In a rather ‘spur-of-the-moment’ decision, our club made the decision to participate in the Salvation Army’s Adopt a Family for Christmas Program. Our ‘family’ included a single mother, two four-year old boys (twins?), and a two-month old girl. We provided a large number of great gifts and two over-flowing stockings to the boys. Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to Daneel Tuttle, Ben’s wife, for wrapping all the presents! We also provided gift certificates for the baby, the mother, and for a fabulous holiday dinner. We look forward to next year when the Community Service Committee will have ample opportunity to facilitate more member involvement.
Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a safe and Happy New Year!
This is a time for endings; of our year, of the season, and a time of hope for new beginnings. As well as a time to share with family.
We probably will all pause a moment to consider the past year and make some plans as we look ahead to a New Year in 2018. I hope that it will be a time of rejuvenation for us all and a great family time.
On a more somber note, one of our fellow Rotarians, Eldon Bowman, long time member of The Prescott Rotary Club, passed last week. His obituary was in the Saturday 12/16 Daily Courier. He was 84 years old, a good long run, and judging by the information provided he made the very best of it. I am sure that many of our longer term members knew Eldon. I only knew him in passing, and any of our other newer members who have done make ups as I have at the Friday meetings may have met Eldon. He always had worthwhile words of wisdom when provided an opportunity to speak.
I hope that you all will hold Eldon and his family, as well as all those in our club who have lost family members this past year, in your hearts and prayers and celebrate their memory.
