Sending Happy Thanksgiving Thoughts for all my fellow Rotarians,
And best wishes for a great holiday with family and friends.
This past Saturday our RYLA committee met at Camp Pinerock to further plans for RYLA 2018. Of course one item was the Kids Against Hunger service project. I learned some eye opening facts that we can each ponder as we celebrate Thanksgiving.
First: All the meals packed will stay in Arizona.
Next : Apache County is the most “food insecure” county in AZ
Then: ¼ of AZ children are living in “food insecure” situations. Even in Yavapai there are teachers who pack meals in their schools on Fridays for kids who don’t get much to eat on the weekends to take home
Last year RYLA delegates packed 42,552 meals. Goal this year is to break 43,000 and we need your help to make this a successful service project. Please pass this along to anyone you know who might be inclined to support such a great service project.
Any amount will help but consider using your Arizona Tax Credit for this great program. It is as easy as 1, 2, 3 …
And if you do this prior to December 13 the money goes towards our camp project. After that it goes to the second camp in the spring. Be sure to also check on the cut-off for this getting this year’s tax credit.
1. Sit down and write a check today to RYLA 5495 – Kids Against Hunger in the amount of $800 (joint tax filers) or $400 (single tax filers);
2. Mail the check to PO Box 371, Cottonwood, AZ 86326;
3. Take a nap because they will do the rest (Mail you a receipt for your taxes).
