Meeting Highlights March 21st
Meeting Highlights: SGT Clent Walker and his assistant Joshua made the rounds fining folks and raking in the cash.   Jane Anne the Editor of this fine publication was having so much fun watching them that she forgot to take notes.  Michael the King pumped the crowd up for signing up for the Little League opening day and he recited a poem he wrote in 2006 when he was Prez.    As Chairman of Double Down, I needed that pep talk.  Thanks Mike!

Speakers Neal Sneller and Pat Parker educated all of us about what PAL or Prescott Area Leadership mission and their involvement in the community.  The mission of Prescott Area Leadership is to develop and inspire individuals to contribute to the vitality and leadership of central Yavapai County, Arizona.  Neal Sneller is responsible for recruiting members, retaining existing membership, attending networking events, and promoting the Chamber in our community.

Pat Parker told of how graduates of the program **Earn College Credit – Leadership & Innovation is taught in partnership with the Fast-Track Management Program at Yavapai College. PAL class members attending all three Leadership & Innovation sessions receive one credit toward the 3-credit Fast-Track Leadership certification.

One day a month the class comes together for a morning devoted to leadership skills training. The afternoon is centered on some of our most important regional issues. Obtain a comprehensive perspective of our communities from business and community leaders while participating in interactive discussions and exercises.   www.Prescottarealeadership.org

Good Day Folks,

It has been a busy week for me, so a little low energy at the moment.  I will make a quick appeal to our “wicked good” members to sign up to attend the upcoming (May 31 – June 2), “Very First”, 5495 District Conference. Who knows, you might even be considered “Plank Holders”!

Please work on sponsors and ticket sales for Double-Down Casino Night (May 12). Just this week I have one new table sponsor and another possible one. I hope the rest of you are working on this too. It has a direct effect on the division of proceeds between the clubs.

Other than that, I wanted to share an experience (Non-Rotary) with you. On Friday last week, as a member of the Sharlot Hall Museum, I attended a reception and opening of their newest exhibit: “Arizona and the Great War.” To quote their description: “This featured exhibit portrays the background, social and political change, and transition from an isolated Southwest territory to a patriotic state engaged on the home front in support of our troops “Over There!”   It’s an exhibit not to miss if you have any interest in history, particularly AZ history. This is a first class project that gives a wide overview of the war and its effect on the home front. Its centerpiece is a very realistic recreation of a WWI trench showing how the soldiers lived and fought. I highly recommend this excursion to everyone, young and old.

See you Wednesday,

Peace Friends,

A.J.
