Meeting Highlights February 7th
Meeting Highlights: Gus Bergman found that the Sunupians were in a rare mood last week.  Guest Dan Storvek was fined for pulling someone’s coat tails, Glen Hammond paid $4 for not greeting.  Neal McEwan paid a $2 fine for a cool IOU and Tony Shaw paid $2 for contributing to Sharlot Hall.  Dennis Light was happy for Yavapai property owners and Eric was delirious for winter.  Dan Davis was not happy that Feb 7, 1984 the Beatles came to America for the first time.  Elaine Mansoor was happy for the 125th year of the Salvation Army.  Par had an advertising buck for Wedbush having offices to rent.  Jane Anne had 3 happy bucks because her youngest daughter is pregnant.  Phil Goode gave a happy buck for the new Storm Ranch trail.  Everyone gave a happy buck for Dan Deyer, Mike King and Val Ripley setting up and cleaning the snack shack.  Par won the pot.
Jane Anne Chairman for Casino Night and Bud Ackerman gave the pictch for supporting the Rotary event by selling tickets and sponsorships.  The other clubs led by Noel DeSousa are selling tickets as well and we need to get our behinds in gear so we do not get kicked with embarrassment.  Everyone should gather behind this event.

The Speaker was Ray Carlson: Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General George Washington Bowie was a native of Maryland.  He was first commissioned into military service during the Mexican War.  Assigned as a First Lt. with the 15th Infantry Regiment, he would serve with distinction during the war and would be brevetted to the rank of Major by war’s end.  Returning to civilian life, he moved to California in 1850 and became involved in politics. In 1854, he was elected to the California state assembly. He also made unsuccessful campaigns for the United States House of Representatives in 1854, Governor of California in 1858, and California State Attorney General in 1860. With the outbreak of the Civil War, Bowie was commissioned to the rank of Colonel and assigned command of the 5th California Volunteer Infantry Regiment, serving until he was mustered out in 1864. He was brevetted Brigadier General of Volunteers on March 13, 1865 for "faithful and meritorious services".
Two Great SURF Fundraisers
This is the time of the year for Sunupians to support our Foundation. The best way to do that is to buy & sell tickets to our Double Down Casino Night and to put a flag in either your front yard or that of a Veteran's. Donate $29 and sign up for Flags for Patriots. It's your club, it's your Foundation!

Good Morning Sunupians!

I hope that it has been a good and healthy week for you. I noted that several were among the missing last week and hope that they were not due to the "dreaded flu" or a fear of going out into groups due to the season. Please take good care of yourselves and get back with us.

So we approved the updated Constitution and By-Laws after the vote at last weeks meeting. (Yes we still had enough for a quorum in spite of the flu!) I hope that you will join me in taking a minute to thank our Board of Directors for their hard work on getting these done and our fellow club members for approving them.

We are now into getting ready for our Double Down Casino Night as emphasized by Jane Anne and Bud last week. I know that we are all volunteers, however I would like to add my own pitch here in support of Jane Anne's efforts (as Chairperson) and the committees hard work in bringing this  event to fruition and making it even better this year.  I am sure that I can't make it an expectation however I strongly encourage all of our members to pitch in and support this great event. How else can we show that we are the "Wicked Great Club!" in Prescott! Sell Tickets, help find sponsors, and/or volunteer when the call comes out for help for that night. I know that we can do this.

See you Wednesday

Peace friends
