Meeting Highlights March 14th

Meeting Highlights: Mike King pushed signups for opening day of little league. Val reminded everyone about signing up for the Gunsite Shoot Day. Jane Anne reminded everyone that they need to buy their Double Down Casino Night tickets, bring in sponsorships with money and please bring in some raffle prizes. After a long absence, Rod Cordes was SGT. He collected many IOU’s, busted Gus for pushing only Creighton, there were happy bucks all around and Art Harrington won the pot.

Cougill, enters his fifth season at the helm of the Roughrider Baseball program. This will mark Cougill’s 9th season at Yavapai and 12th overall. The 2016 Roughrider squad added to the program rich tradition at Yavapai, capturing a National Championship after qualifying for the NJCAA Div. 1 World Series in back to back years.

Cougill led the Roughrider baseball program to a Region I Championship, a Western District Championship and the program’s 4th National Championship. In both years, Cougill was named the ABCA/Diamond NJCAA Regional and District Coach of the year and in 2016, was named the ABCA/Diamond NJCAA Division 1 National Coach of the Year after finishing the season with a 49–20 (.710) record.

Doug Eastman enters his 4^th season as the head coach of Yavapai Softball. Eastman comes to Yavapai after spending 7 years as the head softball coach at the College of the Siskiyou’s in CA. He played ProBall with the Cincinnati Reds when Pete Rose was there. Lady athletes come to Yavapai and play ball to obtain a 4-year degree at a University. He said female athletes are tough, they work hard and make success.

Happy Belated St. Patrick's Day to my fellow Sunupians,

Or is it St. Patrick's Week? Either way I hope that you all enjoyed the weekend. Anyone make it to the Pub Crawl?

So, it is that time of year again. We are receiving encouragement to attend the District Conference coming up on May 31 - June 3! As it is the first 5495 District Conference it is likely to be a well attended event and a great time for all! And Yes, I am signed up! But don't let that scare you off!

May 31 is a first time ever, optional, mini-peace conference and should be very interesting.

Our club Presidents are tasked with sponsoring a Hospitality Suite and we can have a table highlighting any projects or fundraisers: Double-Down Casino night comes to mind and we can get the word out to other Rotarians who might like to come or at least buy a ticket to support?
