Thought for the day from Sharon Harrington "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others” by Mahatma Ghandi
Announcements: Bud reported that the Installation dinner for June 10 has been postponed until August or September. Also, he is looking into a back-up venue so we can start live meetings when appropriate.
Todd announced that Kelly’s food donation from closing her restaurants went to the Salvation Army since they have the equipment to prepare it and thanks to all who donated food and cash for the food drive.
Sharon shared that Art underwent full knee replacement last Friday in Phoenix. He is doing very well, working with a Physical Therapist three days a week, and walking without a cane or walker.
Jane Anne is starting to gather items for the unnamed on-line auction. When we get 20 or more items it will start. All members are encouraged to solicit and collect items and get them to Jane Anne. Any items from $200 - $2000 will be most welcome with bidding starting at 50% of value.
Sergeant-at-Arms: Jane Anne was once again dragged into performing the task (Could it be because she does such a bang-up job?)
Bud was fined for his great background on Zoom. Greg Raskin paid for being all over Jane Anne’s FB page which “subliminally” causes her to want to buy more jewelry. Todd paid for doing such a good job with the food donations! Stan paid for his computer skills with the offer of free instruction when things settle down. R Hernandez paid because he has the greatest job in the world!
Jane Anne paid happy bucks for seeing the grandkiddies last weekend, It was great!
Jerry Fohrman the same for seeing his grandkiddies last weekend. Also great!
Clent Walker for Josh receiving all A’s and 1 B. Excellent hard work pays off!
Everyone with fines or happy bucks is asked to send an email to Eric so he can add them to your bill.
Jerry introduced our speakers Laura Ingalls and Brianna Klink. They have both been Rotary Scholarship recipients. Breanna spent a summer on exchange to Finland and is still in contact with her host family. Laura had her first year books paid for which was a great boost!
Laura Ingalls is CEO of Abeja Solutions. The company helps nonprofits create healthier, more stable funding for their missions. Over the last 20+ years, Laura has written and produced for CNN, served as a humanitarian spokesperson in Iraq, and led award-winning nonprofit and corporate communications teams. Brianna Klink is Chief Operations Officer at Abeja. A certified nonprofit professional (CNP), she has nearly 20 years of experience in organizational development, talent strategy and instructional design. Laura and Brianna reviewed fundraising principals and trends in the current environment and projections and recommendations going forward.
Abeja emphasis is on helping nonprofits develop integrated giving solutions involving direct mail, personal, internet, and social media outreach. Expressing the mission with specific, personalized stories will increase emotional support to donate. Abeja also focuses on individual and private foundations with their relational stories outreach. They suggest that the three key tasks in individual fundraising are retaining donors, upgrading donors, and increasing the number of donors. Fundraising should be recognized as a revenue center, not as a cost.
Abeja’s overall recommendations are to make decisions based on donor data, tell impact stories of what we do, integrate direct, email and the web, and give donors opportunities that will appeal to them. Finally, Ask, Thank, and repeat the process.
