Dennis Gallagher, from the Western Heritage Center (WHC), was our speaker at last week's meeting. Located in downtown Prescott at 156 S. Montezuma, the mission of the Prescott Western Heritage Museum is to preserve and promote the area's western heritage through education, art, music, events and projects that enhances Yavapai County. Ribbon cutting was on 3/2019 by the Prescott Chamber. The center is free of charge, has been visited by more than 70,000 in 2023. Those visitors have come from states all across this nation, along with seven other countries. WHC utilizes grants, direct donations and fundraisers to sustain its operation. The museum is a collaborative showcase of various area features and museums, and it is managed 100% by volunteers. Gallagher said the center's success is directly attributed to the incredible volunteer team. The Western Heritage Center also features an educational program for 3 &4th graders. That includes a tour of the facility and presentations by several speakers. WHC provides scholarships to exceptional area youth who are helping to continue the western traditions. Since 2014, nineteen scholarships have been awarded.
