Interact is about Service Above Self, Rotary's 4-Way Test and leadership development.  The Interact District Councilis our district leadership level. At our Interact District Council Retreat, Members build strong bonds and are trained to  lead our district and support the leadership for the clubs.

The work our team will be doing with this remarkable team of disabled wheelchair mechanics has been one of the key goals of this trip.  In addition to the work they do in this wheelchair repair building in Cuernavaca, this mobile team of wheelchair mechanics has been repairing 3,000 wheelchairs a year in villages and towns across two states in central Mexico.

By working with a Rotary Foundation Global Grant, our Prescott Sunup Rotary Club is serving as the International Partner in a Global Grant project to purchase a second vehicle and train a second team of these wheelchair-bound mechanics — doubling the size and scope of this Rotary-sponsored project.

Besides the valuable service it provides to those who live in wheelchairs, the program provides employment for these disabled team members.  Here is a link to a video The Rotary Foundation made about this remarkable project: https://vimeo.com/149036170

Interact Ambassadors to Kenya Update

Written by Art Harrington, Interact Chair

While we work with and partner with the Rotary Crutches 4 Africa nonprofit organization, based in Denver, our Interact District has our own unique Interact Crutches 4 Africa project, with its related Interact Ambassadors program:  www.rotaryazinteract.org.  Interact Crutches 4 Africa has become the signature project of our Interact District 5495, and it is unique in all of the world among Rotary and Interact districts.

In addition to mobility equipment, medical supplies and school supplies distribution at Talek, our team visited Rotary District 5495's most recent Global Grant water project at Talen, which benefits a community of 7,000 people and their livestock.

Greetings fellow Sunupians!

I hope that you all had a great week and found time to spend with friends and family. What a wonderful Wednesday meeting we had. I love that we are having “Member Speaker” time to get to know each other better. I’m also glad A.J. put a time limit on our sharing because, well you know me….I have a lot of stories!

I am so inspired by Art Harrington's Ring of Honor award. What an accomplishment! Art is the epitome of Service above Self and it's awesome to have him as a Sunup member.

I also want to wish Linda Mast the very best as she leaves our club due to meeting scheduling conflicts.  Frontier is lucky to be getting a Sunupian in their membership. So them how we roll Linda!

In closing I want to say thank you to all those who have stepped up to help lead.

Have a great week.

In Service,
