Next Meeting's Speaker:  President Laura Vanderberg

What's Happening

Congratulations, Christy Manning, President Nominee

Written by Current President Laura Vanderberg
I met Christy Manning when we both first joined SunUp, right in the middle of the pandemic!  Christy was a Rotarian in California before she moved to Prescott.  She lives in Prescott Valley with her husband and two sons, and is a Branch Manager at OneAZ Credit Union.
Christy coordinates and enthusiastically participates in service activities for both OneAZ and SunUp. Christy took over as our Club’s Director of Community Service last year and has been coordinating SunUp’s, and even tri-Club, activities ever since.
One of the things I love about Christy is her passion for making service opportunities available to everyone, and working with all the local Rotary clubs so that we all can do even more.
We look forward to her bringing her energy into the leadership of SunUp as President for 2024-25!

Oh What Fun We Had!

SunUpians and their guests enjoyed a festive holiday party on December 7th at the Hassayampa’s Marina Room. Everyone enjoyed mixing and mingling, partaking of delicious appetizers and beverages.

A special treat, Band o’ Buzzards serenaded the group before, and during dinner.

Past President Clent Walker welcomed guests and shared emcee duties with our amazing event planner, Chelsea Sederstrom.

After dinner, Clent stood in for President Laura (who was home sick) and announced that Christy Manning will be the club’s President Nominee.

The evening wrapped up with a table game/ornament swap and an assortment of yummy desserts.

Looking Ahead

Missed y’all at the Holiday Party thanks to a not so welcome visitor, COVID.
Despite having had it full blown 2 years ago, and subsequently being immunized and boosted, apparently I was susceptible to this current strain and meant to stay home.
The good news is that my experience of this COVID was vastly different than my original experience.  In fact, this time, it was more like a cold or strep throat.  I actually thought it was strep throat, so I was totally surprised when the Urgent Care clinic didn’t hand me a Z-pack and send me on my way.  Instead, they told me that my COVID test was positive; strep and flu A & B were negative.
Most importantly, here’s some helpful information that I’d like to share.
The PA told me that the hands-down, best cough drops for a sore throat are the Cepacol Extra Strength Throat Lozenges with 15 mg of active ingredient.
I can’t tell you what that is because my husband couldn’t find those throat lozenges anywhere in Prescott!  But! Amazon to the rescue, I was able to order some and they should be here- well, just in time for me to be healthy again!
So, with this holiday season, it’s easy to get run down and even more susceptible to everything that’s going around.
So, please, take good care, get good sleep, wash your hands often & stay home if you don’t feel well.
Make it a healthy week!
