Thank you to Guest Stan Goligoski, Executive Director Yavapai Education Service Agency, Yavapai Justice and Mental Health Coalition on "Afghanistan"
Thank you Stan for your boundless service in Prescott and across the globe, and for an informative and inspiring presentation. During his service in Afghanistan, Stan said "never forgetting where he came from" made all the difference in his missions.
"Stan Goligoski serves on the Mayors Commission on Veterans Initiatives and was integral to Prescott being named Most Veteran-Friendly City in Arizona. Working with Federal and Arizona Corporation Commissions, Stan brought robust, reliable and inexpensive broadband fiber lines to over 72 schools and libraries in Yavapai County, as well as rural sheriff and fire outposts. Stan is the president of the Prescott Community YMCA board and serves on: the Boys and Girls Club state panel to determine the Arizona Youth of the Year; Boys State as speaker on behalf of veterans; the First Things First Yavapai Regional Council; the Yavapai County Criminal Justice and Mental Health Coalition; and the Prescott Unified School District Education Foundation. Says Stan, “regardless of my rank or status in any organization, what drove me most was . . . empowering others.”
Yavapai County Supervisor Harry Oberg, right, talks to the crowd during a Tuesday, September 28, 2021 re-dedication of the All Veterans Memorial on the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza. Dolly Parton Imagination Library
Written by A.J. Sheridan, Art Harrington and Ben Tuttle, former Club Secretary of Prescott Sunup Rotary
Did you know that Prescott’s three Rotary sponsor a Dolly Parton Imagination Library to benefit the children here in the Prescott area?
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books free of charge to children from birth to age five, through funding shared by Dolly Parton and local community partners in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Republic of Ireland.
Inspired by her father’s inability to read and write Dolly started her Imagination Library in 1995 for the children within her home county. Today, her program spans five countries and gifts over 1 million free books each month to children around the world. Click here to read more about this amazing program.
Each Rotary club pledged to provide monies via district grants of $4,000 for a total of $12,000 for three years to help get it started and the balance of the funds come from a Rotary Foundation District Grant. The intention is to serve children in the quad city area. We started in Prescott, quickly expanded to Prescott Valley and Chino Valley and now cover Dewey-Humboldt also.
This is our third year and we hope that the three clubs will continue to support this great literacy program. It is designed to provide children with an age appropriate book a month from birth to age 5. The books come with suggestions parents can us in reading to their children. This has been networked through Pediatricians, hospitals, the library children’s reading program among other sources. We are Just starting to broaden the awareness.
Our Annual Fundraiser will take place Friday, February 11th @ Hassayampa Marina Room. Consider donating cash or items for silent auction. Contact Donna Jacobs thejacobs789@gmail.com or Jane Anne Shimizu jashimizu@gunsite.com for more details.
Cruise In for Vets will take place May 14th. Prescott Mall near Texas Roadhouse 3310 Gateway Blvd, Prescott, AZ 86303 http://cruise4vets.com/

President's Message
Richard Hernandez
Hello fellow Rotarians,
What an awesome meeting we had Wednesday. It was nice to see the room full again.
Thanks for rolling with the ticket raffle adaptation. I actually think it went over pretty good, way to adapt and over come. How cool was the gift our visiting Rotarian Ed brought? Home made made maple syrup! Then when the bidding started and Greg slammed the door, that was awesome!
