Sunup in Sequestration
The Sunup BOD met online once again last Thursday. It was decided that an on-line meetings for the entire club would be appropriate at our regular meeting time of 7:00 am on Wednesdays. At this moment we will attempt to be ready for an April 15th meeting. We are looking to include a great program. To attend you need a PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone or Android. We will use Zoom an on-line meeting platform that utilizes both audio and video. So almost like sitting next to someone but without the virus. No need for mask or six feet of distance. You will see the speakers but otherwise you will not be seen unless the production manager happens to press the wrong button. The production manager just took an online 30 minute Zoom course so he is all over it. Zoom is fairly easy to use even for non-techies and you will receive an email with a link that takes you to the meeting. You can click here to see a short tutorial on how to use the app. Since this will be easy we hope that all members will join in.  Look for an email on the 14th which will have the link to join the meeting 0n the 15th. Hope to see you then.

Let's Make a Deal Deadline Extended

Due to the inability of our Prescott Sunup Rotary Club to physically meet in recent weeks, the March 31 deadline for taking advantage of the club's offer to match your contribution to The Rotary Foundation, in order to enable you to become a Paul Harris Fellow, or to reach the next PHF level of giving, is being extended to April 15.  Please mail your check, made payable to The Rotary Foundation, directly to our Rotary Foundation Chair, Art Harrington, 802 Oak Terrace Drive, Prescott, AZ 856301, in order to expedite the relaying of your donation to our Rotary Foundation, accompanied by the essential forms to properly credit your gift.  If you have any questions about your LMD amount, contact Art at arthts@msn.com, or by phone at (928) 245-0411.  Thanks for your participation!

Here are some additional facts.  The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona was recently recognized for our transparency with a 2019 Gold Seal on our GuideStar Nonprofit Profile! GuideStar is the world’s largest source of information on nonprofit organizations.  The mission of The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona, Inc. (TRVFA) is to partner with Rotary Clubs to provide assistance to Qualified Candidates in obtaining education, training, and skill development so they may, in turn, attain career oriented employment and financial stability and contribute to their communities.  Our vision is for students go on to become productive citizens in our state. The education they obtain will help them earn a living and raise their families. Because of their increased earning potential they help grow the economy of the state of Arizona.

Forty-five students benefited from $85,433 in total grant funding this past year.  This number is limited by the amount of funds our Rotarians and others donate each year.  The scholarships have, at times, been for up to $3,000 per recipient, but had to be reduced last year to $2,000, in order to help more people.

Good Morning Sunupians,

Just a brief note to let you know what is going on in these strange times. First I hope all of you are staying well and practicing social distancing. To that end our board of directors has started meeting twice a month virtually and is working on setting up regular virtual club meetings for all to participate in. I would like to encourage all members to contact via phone at least 3 other members a day, just to check in with them and to help the club stay connected until we can meet again in person. The board is also working on some ways to help our community in any way the club can. Stay tuned for more information. Stay safe and be well!
