As mentioned earlier our original charter certificate has been found. It's a good thing since many of our old timers weren't sure of the charter date, November 6th, 1981!

Meeting Highlights February 21st
Val was the SGT not Greg as was stated in the bulletin (really someone should fire JA).  Val fined everyone for being here last week because he wasn’t.  He fined Greg for squealing on folks who tried to butter him up because they thought he was the SGT.  Jane Anne got a happy buck for being Chairman of Double Down Casino Night.  The Frontier Rotarian was happy he’s in the Frontier Rotary because it’s warmer by 12:00 and it is daylight!

The Speaker: Steve Monez is the Past President of the Arizona Society of the Sons of The American Revolution. He has seven proven ancestors that were involved in the founding of our country.  Steve was a member of the Lions for 30 years and has been a resident of Prescott since 2009.
He gave a very interesting first person speech by George Washington to Congress (we were the Congress) telling them what happened when he crossed the Delaware.

It occurred on the night of December 25-26, 1776 during the Revolutionary War.  It was the first move in a surprise attack organized by George Washington against the Hessian forces in Trenton NJ. Planned in partial secrecy, Washington led a column of Continental Army troops across the icy Delaware River in a logistically challenging and dangerous operation.
Other planned crossings in support of the operation were either called off or ineffective, but this did not prevent Washington from surprising and defeating the troops of Johann Rall quartered in Trenton. The army crossed the river back to Pennsylvania, this time laden with prisoners and military stores taken as a result of the battle.
Washington's army then crossed the river a third time at the end of the year, under conditions made more difficult by the uncertain thickness of the ice on the river. They defeated British reinforcements under Lord Cornwallis at Trenton on January 2, 1777, and defeated his rear guard at Princeton on January 3, before retreating to winter quarters in Morristown, New Jersey.

DO YOU KNOW SUNUP ROTARIAN CHUCK DeARMOND?

He’s a long time member of Sunup Rotary, a Paul Harris Fellow, a great Rotarian, a very likeable guy and is now 98 years young!

Sunup Rotarian PDG Don & Annette invite you to come and spend some time with Chuck, share memories, share stories and Rotary experiences.
One of Chuck’s big interests was the snack shack which he helped out with 110%. Chuck’s wife Fran will be there to welcome you too.

Please join us on Wednesday March 14, 2018, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Alta Vista, 916 Canterbury, Prescott, AZ 86301 in the Granite Room for an informal gathering to chat with Chuck.
Light refreshments will be served.

Chuck is very excited and looking forward to seeing his Rotary friends. It’s an open house, so drop in anytime and stay for as long or short as you like.

Looking forward to seeing you on March 14th, 2:00- 4:00 pm.

Any questions please contact Don at 928-710-2383.

Hi Folks,

So we finally had a touch of winter on Friday and into the weekend! Nice to see some snow and to get the additional precipitation and not have to shovel it! I hope that you enjoyed our visit from George Washington this past week as much as I did. What a great job Steve Monez does researching him and presenting.

This Wednesday we will be welcoming our newest member, John White, to official status. Get prepped to give John a warm welcome!

I hope that you noticed the information regarding the Open House hosted by the Schillers on behalf of Charles DeArmond. Mark your calendars!  I think it will be a great opportunity to share our Rotary Fellowship. I hope that a number of you will be able to attend.

Still looking for volunteers with a sense of style, humor, or just “perceived wisdom” to offer a thought for the day/week or reflection?  This week is covered so you have time to plan.  Let me know soonest, otherwise I may have to fill in with a bunch of bad old jokes! Come on let’s show our interesting side and have some fun with this.

See you Wednesday!
Peace Friends!
 A.J.
