What's Happening

Thank you to Dr. Laura Vanderberg for a festive St. Patrick's Day Trivia Presentation

Edited by Lisa DeLeo
Bio quoted from: Newton Services Consulting
Trivia from: Parade.com

Dr. Laura Vanderberg's  trivia included fun facts like: Patrick's Day celebrates the life of Saint Patrick—the patron saint of Ireland. This influential missionary has been credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland and for chasing all of the snakes out of Ireland.

St. Patrick's Day takes place on March 17 each year because his death is believed to have been on March 17, 461. He was actually born in Britain.

Why are green shamrocks introduced around St. Patrick’s Day? St. Patrick was said to have used the three-leaf clover to demonstrate the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) to potential converts.

Which U.S. city turns the river that runs through it green? CHICAGO - which at one time had America's fourth largest Irish population, after New York, Philadelphia and Boston.

Dr. Laura Vanderberg is a Leadership Development Professional, Scientist and Consultant as well as the Chief Scientist at Newton Services Consulting, a certified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business. Her diverse background in both the scientific and holistic fields bring the very best of the best practices to assist up and coming leaders and focus on their path. New Pay-As-You-Go Breakfast Plan

Effective with our April meetings, SunUpians will have a new Pay-As-You-Go breakfast option.

Corporate members and anyone who would like to continue the quarterly breakfast plan (no change from how breakfasts have been billed previously) can email Laura laura@newtonservicesconsulting.com by March 27th to maintain their enrollment in the current plan.

Everyone who does not wish to continue with the old plan will have the option to register yes or no for breakfast each meeting.

If you choose to have breakfast at a meeting, you'll be able to pay at the door.

Those not eating every meal at club meetings will experience a significant reduction in their quarterly bills!

Stay tuned for an email with more detailed information and instructions!

World Water Day, held on March 22nd every year since 1993, focuses on the importance of fresh water.

On 22 March, Rotary will join the global celebration of World Water Day and its annual theme of “Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible.”  Tens of thousands of people will raise the visibility of how this vital resource must be protected from pollution and over extraction, managed sustainably, and reflected in sustainable development policymaking. But what does this mean to Rotary?

Why should Rotary members care about groundwater?

And what can Rotarians and Rotaractors do about groundwater through their service and projects?

World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis. A core focus of World Water Day is to support the achievement of UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 6: Water and Sanitation for all by 2030.

You're Invited to a Fireside Chat Saturday, 3/26/22 @ 4pm

The Membership Committee will be hosting a Fireside for all new-ish members on Saturday, March 26th 4pm at Laura Vanderberg's house (4215 W. Marlow Road, Prescott 86305- about 2 miles north of Outer Loop Rd. off Williamson Valley Road), about 25 minutes from downtown.

This will be an evening of shared fellowship (spouses are welcome!), with a short program by some of our more seasoned SunUpians, that illustrates the big picture of Rotary along with all the different opportunities to be active in the club (committees and so forth) and more.

Bring a dish to share- appetizer, dessert, or main and your preferred beverage.  We'll have hotdogs and s'mores over the fire as well.

Sunupians,

Thank you to all who attended Wednesday's meeting and provided feedback on our upcoming changes to our paying for breakfast at Meetings policy.

As I presented, we will be going to a pay-as-you-go plan. Meaning, members and guests will pay for breakfast at the door the day of the meeting.

This will allow us to substantially reduce our membership dues, which I believe will have a direct positive impact on out declining membership numbers.

This change will require each of us to do a little bit more, but it will be for the good of the overall club.

If you missed last week's meeting and want more information, please reach out to me or any board member.

Richard
