Whats Happening
Congratulations to Jon Berry, Donna Jacobs, and Christy Manning as newly elected directors for the Sunup Rotary Board begining July 1st. Our club will be in good hands.

Meeting Notes by Christy Manning - Doug was Greeter, Donna said the prayer, Matt led the Pledge of Allegiance, Greg Raskin led the 4 Way Test, Terry Smith started the song, "Battle Hymn of the Republic", & John had the thought for the day. “People generally see what they look for, and hear what they listen for.” You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.

Todd shared the success of Rotary Week of Service, Cruisin' for Vets, Road Cleanup & the Food Drive.  Jerry & Todd dropped off 1,600 pounds of food and over $2,000 in cash donations were collected to benefit the Yavapai County Food Bank. Linda introduced guests, Doug & Pat, who visited the Rotary booth during an event.Terry & Terri attended their last meeting before moving out of state.May 15 is the Veteran Memorial Cleanup. Sargent was Jane Ann & Mark helped.  The following members had IOU's and had to pay them: Todd $10, Greg Raskin $10, Neil $1.  Bud, Jerry, Greg, Terry & Terri all had to pay $1 for wearing plaid.  Everyone had to pay $1 except Todd & Linda since they organized the recent events.  Anyone not signed up for the mixer had to pay $1. We took a vote on whether to keep printing the newsletter and no one "needed" the newspaper printed. Happy Bucks: $5 from Terry for the Road Cleanup event being successful and $10 sad buck for his & Terri's last meeting.  Richard, Jane Ann both put in money for T&T.  Eric put $1 in for helping a friend get prescriptions in Mexico.  Jon Berry & Glenn Hammond put in for T & T.  Clent put $5 for T & T and his boy's voice changing.  Greg R. put $20 in for T&T and Clent leaving office soon, and in laws leaving.  Donna put in $20 for T&T.  Doug put in money for T&T.  AJ put in money for Doug taking over road cleanup from T&T.  Doug & Pat, guests, put in $10 for their tummies full and that they are happy to be in Prescott. Jack put in money for missing the Food Drive but he got to see his grandson in Vegas.  Todd put in $10 sad dollars for T&T.  Art put in money for Interact, Food Drive, and the 1,000 backpacks that were stuffed for the school drive.  Matt put in money for T&T and that business is great. Greg Raskin had the winning ticket for the Raffle.
AJ introduced the speaker, Courtney Osterfelt, Director of the Launch Pad.  She has a bachelor's degree in Education, a Master of Arts degree in Social Change and Community Development.  She has been working with teens for the past 13 years.  Courtney founded the Women's Empowerment Breakthrough in 2003 a non profit educational organization for teenage girls in Yavapai County and she started working on developing the Launch Pad in 2011.  She loves working with teens because she remembers her teenage years as  being particularly challenging and she wants to support teens in becoming who they want to be.  She also believes teens are powerful people who can inspire and create great change in our community and it is an honor to support them in realizing their own potential. 7 years ago Courtney started The Launch Pad By Teens, For Teens.  It is a youth run non-profit.  Teens serve on the Board of Directors.  It is the only non profit that has protected youth on their BOD.  It is youth driven on many different levels:
Level 1-Get on Board-Leader Potential
Level 2-Be the Pilot - The programs are lead by teens & adults
Level 3-Stoke the Engine-Teens can get on the BOD or serve on the teen advisory council
Level 4-Share the Vision-Ambassador
Current location is renting a building in Prescott College.  They get 30-40 teens a day and 1100 teens per year.  The Launch Pad offers Girls Leadership Camp, Real World Camp, Adventure Camp, Volunteerism such as delivering food, Project Launch such as Workforce Development, Summer Camps and After school programs.
Their current space is a 1100 sq ft building. TLP bought a warehouse in Prescott.  Can you see it Campaign is for renovating this new space which will include an Academic Mentorship Program, Art Studio, Non-profit coffee shop and a Music/Game Room to name a few things. Share the Love Event is Saturday, May 15th at 4pm via Zoom.  Make a donation in any amount and receive gourmet ingredients to create a meal via Zoom.
Richard announced the Board of Directors appointed Laura as Club Secretary, Lisa as Branding Imaging Officer

Greetings my friends and fellow Sunupians, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and your week is off to a great start. Hats off to Terri & Terry for your hard work and dedication to the club. You both will be greatly missed. Once again congratulations to our new board members, thank you all for stepping up and continuing to help make Sunup the best at doing what we do.  As we near the end of this Rotary year, remember there is still work to be done in our communities, country, and around the world. Please continue to inspire those around you to do great things and help make a difference.
Remember to always do the right thing, even when there’s no one looking.
