What's Happening

Greetings from Snowy Prescott

Notes by Laura Vanderberg. Edited by Lisa DeLeo. Photo from Daily Courier.

Thank you President Laura Vanderberg for leading us today! We had light attendance this past week due to weather.

The Snack Shack is back at Bill Vallaley Field #1 (off Washington, at the back of Yavapai College)!  We're selling packaged foods and beverages during the Yavapai College Softball games starting this week & then we'll be doing the same for the Little League once their season starts.

The Snack Shack Dynamic Duo gave an update. We can sell packaged goods  The city will be doing a several thousand dollar overhaul on the building and it's interior, but that will take time.  No hot or cooked items until that's done.

YC starts softball games next week.  Tim asked for 2 people to volunteer to cover each day.  There are 2 games- one at noon and one at 2 pm.  This first week will be covered by Richard & Marty- thank you!!!!

Laura will be emailing a sign up out, and Tim will also have it at our club meeting next week.  Tim will also find out when Little League starts.  Richard said there's usually a big opening day event that we should be at!

The supplies are already there.  You get to sell the goodies & watch great games, from the best seat in the house!  Then, at the end of the 2nd game, you'll close up shop, drop the cashbox back at The Framers Market & that's that!

Two people will work the Shack for about a 4 hour window (2 games). If your non-Rotarian spouse, partner, child or friend want to be a second (or third) person, you can sign them up too!

Here's what we need, for now:

Tuesday, March 7, 12 & 2 pm games:  1 person needed

Thursday, March 14, 12 & 2 pm games:  2 people needed

Saturday, March 25, 12 & 2 pm games:  2 people needed

Thursday, March 28, 1 & 3 pm games:  2 people needed

If you can fill one or more of these spots, please contact Tim directly at twieds@prescottaz.com

See you at the ball field!

Breakfast Reservations

Laura talked about the new breakfast arrangements starting in April.

In order for us to renew our contract and continue with club meetings at the Hassayampa, we have to make a few changes to how we do breakfast.  Like our current plan, we'll not be charged for the room, nor for the coffee/tea service each week.

With our new plan, breakfast will be individually ordered and plated, with a $2 increase per meal.  That makes breakfast $19, whether you're a corporate member or a pay as you go member.

We are required to pay for a minimum of 12 breakfasts, whether they're ordered or not, so if you're a corporate member that might not be eating on a given day, please feel free to donate your meal to our speaker or one of our other members (thanks for that suggestion Jane Anne!).

You can still order breakfast by signing up on the website by Friday before the next meeting or as you show up, and then pay when you arrive- no change there.

For everyone who chooses to eat breakfast, when you arrive in the morning, you'll be able to see the menu and Isiah will take your order.  It's customized, so you have to speak with him, and he'll bring your food out between 6:30 and 7:00 am as it's ready on a first ordered first served basis.

We'll be test driving this new approach a couple of times during March, before pricing goes up, so that we can make sure everything's working smoothly.

Below are the menu options under our new plan:

1.  Two eggs any style, hash browns, toast and your choice of bacon, sausage or ham

2.  Two blueberry or buttermilk pancakes, with your choice of bacon or sausage

3.  Hot or cold cereal and your choice of breakfast pastry or toast

4.  Fresh fruit and your choice of breakfast pastry or toast

5.  Fresh fruit, yogurt and granola parfait

Looking Ahead

Double Down Casino Night Update

Laura reminded all that now is the time to get out there and sell tickets and get donations!

Jane Anne suggested that when people ask for donations they lead with the amazing scholarships we gave last year- $18,000 worth, and that we want to raise $35,000 this year!

Please have donors fill out the form, and get it back to us.  Also- very important!  Jane Anne reminded everyone that you actually have to collect the donation, in whatever form!

The donation or sponsorship isn't complete without the money or item in hand!

Saturday, June 17th  5p-9p at the Prescott Vibes Event Center.

Located at: 6200 North Rt. 89, Prescott (near the Prescott Airport)

Contact Jane Anne Shimizu928-636-4565 Ext. 4 or jashimizu@gunsite.com

Club members will be going out to the other Prescott Rotary Clubs to share information about DD and sell tickets.

Club members will be selling hard copy tickets, and for the internet/Square- savvy amongst us, you can also buy tickets by going to our website and clicking on the Double Down logo.

OR GO TO: https://sunup-double-down.square.site/

Every club member is expected to sell 10 tickets. Get table sponsors and donations! Go now!

We need dealers for our 21 tables. Celebrity dealers and Prescott Residents encouraged.

Remember, our ability to offer scholarships is directly related to our success with Double Down.  The more donors, the more money raised, the more scholarships we're able to give to deserving graduating seniors- for both college and vocational schools.

Help us support our youth!
