Francisco is the Director of Career & Technical Education at Prescott High School. Career and Technical Education (CTE) are courses that provide an academic foundation with hands-on skills lab experience.
These courses provide great skills that can translate to future career pathways and college courses of study.
It will now be on Saturday 4/30/22 at the Adult Center (1280 E. Rosser St., Prescott) from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
The Friends of the Prescott Public Library is pleased to begin seeking ideas from the community about what they would like to see in a future branch library. You are invited to a special meeting that seeks input from community members with expertise and interest in early childhood education:
Thursday, May 12, 4-5 pm
Founders Suite at Prescott Public Library
We hope that you will attend and forward this invitation to other members of the early childhood education community who might be interested.
Additionally, two public meetings will be held in the Founders Suite on the 1st floor of Prescott Public Library at 215 E. Goodwin St. in Prescott, with two opportunities to participate:
Wednesday, May 11, 1-2 pm OR
Thursday, May 12, 5:30-6:30 pm
Founders Suite at Prescott Public Library
With the help of McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture, an experienced group in library space planning, Friends of Prescott Public Library will gather community input at meetings in May. McMillan Pazdan Smith will then compile information and use their expertise to create a report that includes size, spaces, and features necessary to create the kind of branch library the community needs as Prescott grows. Their report will also include projected budgets for hard and soft costs.
In 2020, Luanne Leeson, a longtime library supporter, left a bequest of nearly $5 million to the Friends of the Prescott Public Library for the construction of a new library. With projected population growth in the north Prescott area, there is a clear need for library services in that part of the city. The City of Prescott has also expressed interest in a library that incorporates an environmental learning center in the Granite Dells. The library planning study will include research and input from the community about an environmental learning center as a component of a new library building.
The report will be shared with the City of Prescott and the Friends will work with the City to determine the best way that the available Friends funds can be applied to the construction of a branch library. The City of Prescott will be the owners of any completed branch library and responsible for the professional staffing and operation.
Although this is just the first step in a long process, the Friends of the Library are excited to help by providing a thorough analysis of the community need and requirements for a branch library and environmental learning center.
