Christmas Elves: Laura Vanderberg and Steve Harbeson Santa's Helpers Steve and Mary Sample Thank you Adopt A Family ContributorsWritten by Laura Vanderberg Thank you to everyone who contributed and volunteered with our Salvation Army's Adopt a Family for Christmas. And to our holiday shoppers: Laura Vanderberg, Steve Harbeson, Steve and Mary Sample, The James and Hernandez families. We had a total of $2,900 available which was allocated equally per person for the 17 family members. That equals $170 per family member which is fantastic!
Again, thank you for helping make our Adopt a Family’s Christmas special. Meeting Notes from President Laura VanderbergWritten by President Laura Vanderberg Our one and only meeting in December had a great turnout despite the cold and icy morning. Dan did setup/takedown, Richard handled registration, and Matt was our greeter. Clent set our hearts and minds in order to open the meeting. We all sang “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and we welcomed an accidental visiting Rotarian from Portland who popped in while he was looking for coffee. Richard announced that he collected buckets of money during the Salvation Army Bell Ringing. Steve thanked the people who helped purchase Christmas gifts for the Adopt A Family project. Laura announced that the Club collected an additional $766 from Happy Bucks and fines in November to boost the budgeted funds for Adopt A Family. Laura awarded Tim the People’s Choice Award for Funniest Picture from our Guess Who contest. Dan was Sgt at Arms, and instead of fines, he went around the room and asked for people to offer what they would and share what they’re happy for. Of particular note, Sharon Harrington gave happy bucks for the missing John Scholl. She appreciated him and shared that she saw him in the newspaper, on TV and on the radio, all in one day! This meeting was the monthly President’s Choice. Laura shared the club’s draft "why" and talked a bit about the club’s hows. The "hows" are the actions and behaviors that we do when we’re working at our best. There was lots of discussion and laughter as each table drafted and then presented their how to the group. Laura recorded those hows to share back to the club at a later time. Art shared that Todd is in Cambodia, and, in accordance with our hows, Todd is exploring the possibilities of an international collaboration with the Phnom Penh Rotary Club. Joke of the Day: What do you get when you cross a snowman with a vampire? Answer: Frostbite! Laura closed the meeting, wishing everyone a peaceful and joyous holiday season. Reminder: Our next club meeting isn't until January 4, 2023. |
