Day 24

Jerry is doing much better with few setbacks. The doctors started him on blood thinner at a low dose. He is still passing clots but is able to pass them more easily if nurses keep up on them. His heart function is now at 40% and he is off of oxygen! The plan is to get him off the kidney flushing, confirm that the blood thinners are being tolerated, and get him off of the surgical wound vacuum draining machine and move him to the rehab hospital a block away for a couple of weeks for PT and monitoring, have the heart procedure done back at the hospital and after monitoring, come home to Prescott and continue dialysis if needed. As for me,  I have left the hospital at 5:30 pm! That is a first in 3 weeks!!

Thank you again for all of your thoughts and prayers. Once again, Jerry has overcome the biggest hurdles and continues to survive fatalities which is why I call him Felix, the cat, who has 9 lives. Jerry has survived 5 near fatalities! Myself, family, friends are all grateful for God's grace.

Helping with our Club's Social Media Outreach:  The past couple of weeks in this newsletter we have explained how you can connect to our Rotary club's Facebook page, begin following it, "Like" the posts you see on it, and share some of those with your friends.  It is too often thought that the creating and enhancing of a Rotary club's public image should be the responsibility of a single member, or perhaps a committee.  However, the most effective outreach a club club can have through social media is when as many of our members as possible begin to post pictures and comments about our club's activities and service projects on their your personal pages in Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and whatever other social media platform you may use.   How long has it been since you posted something on your social media page about Prescott Sunup Rotary?

 

 

 

JR RYLA is happening this week, out at Camp Wamatochick, beginning Wednesday afternoon, and concluding Saturday morning at 11:00..  A number of our Sunup members will be playing key roles with this leadership training camp for 6th - 8th graders. This program, along with our growing number of Interact clubs for middle school age youth, is where Rotary can begin at this young age.  Prescott Sunup Rotary has the distinction of being one of the two "Founder" clubs which provided the financial resources to finally establish this long-needed program.  Our club has donated $1,200 in scholarships this year to enable youth to attend this camp.  The majority of these youth are coming from economically-disadvantaged homes; but with Rotary's sponsorship and coaching, they have an equal opportunity to be among the leaders of tomorrow.  Expect some exciting photos next week from this camp.

 

Interact Ambassadors:  The Interact Ambassadors to Mexico team leaves June 22, and the Ambassadors to Kenya team leaves July 2nd.  Our club has invested $5,000 in these youth and their Rotary international service missions.
