Thank you to Speaker Sheri Heiney, President of Prescott Chamber of Commerce

Thank you Sheri for your presentation and the impressive updates about our Prescott Business Community.

Quoted from the Prescott Chamber of Commerce website: "As President of the Chamber of Commerce, Sheri provides leadership, training and action to help businesses prosper, increase employment opportunities, and encourage economic development and tourism for the benefit of the Prescott area.  She oversees 1000 + member Chamber, and the official Tourism Visitor’s Center attracting over 30,000 + visitors annually as well as over 30 events per year including the Courthouse Lighting Event, Annual Christmas Parade, host of Talk of the Town Radio Show on KQNA the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the Month! "

Highlights from the presentation included:  The way the Chamber focuses on regional collaboration when attracting new businesses to the area, and the expertise that the Chamber brings to growing membership. The Prescott Chamber serves a variety of business sectors from small business operations to many of the area’s largest employers.  The Prescott chamber average over 100 new members a year.  Over 10 members have been in business over 50 years.  On average, 100 people walk through the front door a day.  They are open 7 days a week.  The receive over 16,000 phone calls a year.  Members receive a monthly report.  They provide networking opportunities.  The Prescott Chamber had a campaign during COVID called 'Save our Bars' and they raised over $32,000 of which they gave out grants.  They receive dover $827,000 in grants this year.  Prescott received over 2,000,000 visitors from Thanksgiving to Christmas.

Quoted from "Prescott Woman"  article by Tara Fort  "Heiney says, “I enjoy the opportunity to help local businesses and our community every day, and what better place to do so than from our historic downtown office on Goodwin Street, across from the Courthouse Plaza.”  Heiney says, “Although I enjoy everything about Prescott, the downtown is the heart of the community. My favorite part of the historic location is the Courthouse that sits proudly in the middle of the Square, surrounded by trees and the park setting for all to enjoy. My family has already created many fond family memories since we moved here.”

With over 1,000 Chamber members, the Prescott Chamber ranks in the top sector as #9 in the state.  She adds, “The Chamber is a significant asset to the community by providing leadership and events, maintaining its interest in helping businesses succeed and offering a wide range of programs and events for all ages and generations to enjoy and appreciate.”  To maintain its presence and operations during COVID, Heiney cites the collaboration with other Chambers and says,  “We partnered with other Chambers and stakeholders to collect data from our business community to assist the political decision-makers in creating the stimulus programs for businesses.  We also partnered with the City of Prescott and the Yavapai Health Department to host and participate in virtual seminars and webinars, which we continue to host.”  With many strategic area goals and projected influences over the next three years, Heiney is optimistic about the mission of the Prescott Chamber and says:,  “By offering value and engagement opportunities for members, we will be able to continue establishing a leadership role in economic and tourist development while remaining our presence as a visible community resource for everyone living and doing business in the area.”

Hello fellow Sunupians,

We missed many of you at last week's meeting. I guess it was to be expected with the schools being on fall break.

No matter, we had a great meeting and speaker, Sheri Heiny from the Prescott Chamber of Commerce.  Sheri shared insights into Prescott business and what's to come.  Great things are on the horizon!

See  you Wednesday,

Richard
