Program Committee Chair Tim Wiederaenders, Greg Mengarelli and Pres-Elect Christy Manning Greg Mengarelli, former Prescott Mayor, and now Business Development Manager of Prescott Frontier Days, featuring the World's Oldest Rodeo, shared with our Sunup Rotary Club Master Plan for the rodeo grounds. Greg explained that the property is owned by the City of Prescott, with it being leased to Prescott Frontier Days. He estimates it will require $40 million and 10 years to complete. He is hopeful that the $15 million appropriated by the Arizona State Legislature, but which had ben ted up in litigation over a challenge, will soon be released to help begin the implementation of the first stages of the Master Plan. Rotary currently has 529 Rotary Districts around the world. It is expected that each district will hold an annual District Conference. Its purpose is to celebrate together the enormous amount of service the clubs within the district are accomplishing, to encourage collaboration between the clubs on service projects, and to help inspire club members and leaders by hearing exceptional speakers. It is always one of the better opportunities to see "the bigger picture" of Rotary, beyond the walls of the clubs' meeting rooms, to make new Rotary friends, and to find out what other clubs are doing, This year our District Governor Kevin Pitts, working with DG Raphael de la Rosa Lopez, of Rotary District 4100 in Mexico, have chosen to collaborate this year and hold a Bi-District Conference, May 2-5, in Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point), Sonora, Mexico. A.J. Sheridan, Todd Clancy and Art Harrington are planning on traveling down to Mexico to participate in this conference, representing Prescott Sunup Rotary. Anyone else in the club who is interested in attending this conference is welcome to join us. CLUB SERVICE IT'S ALL ABOUT THE DUCKS — SELL DUCKS!!! Deep in the back woods of Kentucky, a hillbilly’s wife went into labor in the middle of the night; the doctor was called to assist in the delivery. There was no electricity, so the doctor handed the father-to-be a lantern and said, “Here. You hold this high so I can see what I’m doing.” Soon, a baby boy was brought into the world. “Whoa, there,” said the doctor, “Don’t be in such a rush to put that lantern down,. I think there’s another one coming!” Sure enough, within minutes he had delivered a baby girl. “Keep holding that lantern up—don’t set it down!” he yelled. Within a few minutes he had delivered a third baby. “No, don’t be in a hurry to put down that lantern, it seems there’s yet another one coming!” cried the doctor. The hillbilly scratched his head in bewilderment and asked the doctor, “You reckon it might be the light that’s attractin’ ‘em?” __ In the Old West, cowboys traveling home in the dark used to tie a lantern to their horse’s saddle to help them find their way home. It was an early form of “saddle-light” navigation! __ A young woman took her troubles to a psychiatrist. "Doctor, you must help me," she pleaded. "It's gotten so that every time I go to the casino, I end gambling my rent money away. And then afterward, I feel guilty and depressed for a week." “I see," nodded the psychiatrist. "And you, no doubt, want me to strengthen your will power and resolve in this matter." "For Pete's sake, NO!" exclaimed the woman. "I want you to fix it so afterward I won’t feel so guilty.” __ Sometimes I shock myself with the stuff I say and do. Other times, I try to get out of the car with my seat belt on.
