In "the big reveal" at last Wednesday's club meeting, Emmett Jones, who along with his wife Tiffany, serves as the Chair of our Family Fun Fest, introduced Freddie the Frog, our new mascot of our fundraising event.  Freddie, of course, was an instant hit with all of our club members..

Emmett gave the club an update on where we are in our planning amd preparation for this June 22 club fundraising event.  Among other things, he revealed that we have recruited close to $10,000 in in-kind donaions.  He emphasized, though, that we especially need to concentrate, in the weeks ahead, on recruiting sponsors of our event who will give us cash donations.  Here is the form to use in recruiting Family Fun Fest Sponsors:

Where's Freddie?

WHERE'S FREDDIE?  Freddie was at our club meeting on Wednesday, but he will be getting around town, vsiting many businesses and events, leading up to our Sunup Rotary Family Fun fest at Touchmark on Sunday, June 22.

You will be seeing the WHERE'S FREDDIE? caption on many pictures of him shared in different locations, which will be shared on social media, challenging the viewer to figure out where Freddie was when the latest picture of him was snapped.

THE STRONG CONNECTION of ROTARY with PEACE is evidenced by the club sign of the Westport Sunrise Rotary Club, in Westport, CT, on the top of a Peace Pole.

The pursit of peace has long been one of Rotary's top goals.  It was a group oif Rotarians, along with others, who established the United Nations, where Rotary International still has a seat.  Rotary has Seven Areas of Focus, with Peace and Conflict Resolution being one of the seven.  In order for any Global Grant Project to be approved by The Rotary Foundation, it must fit into at least one of these 7 Areas of Focus.  Rotary sponsors seven Peace Centers at key universities around the world where selected Rotary Peace Fellows can earn a 2-year specialized degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution.  At an additional university in Thailand it is possible to earn, through a 6-month program, a Rotary-sponsored Peace & Conflict Resolution Certificate.

This Friday afternoon, at 2:30, our Prescott High School Interact Club will be dedicating a Peace Pole they have created on the Prescott High campus. As their sponsoring Rotary club, our members are invited to join them for this event.  It will be noted that the Prescott-Frontier Rotary Club, which has sponsored a number of peace-related projects, helped to finance this one.

Some have asked, "What will be the admission to our Sunup Rotary Family Fun Fest at Touchmark on June 22?"  The answer is $5 for an individual, and $20 for a family.

Our satellite Prescott Valley Rotary Club meets thia Tuesday, April 22, from 4:30 -6::00, at the PV Elks Club..  PDG Art Harrington, Sunup's Rotary Foiundation Chair, will be explaining why The Rotary Foundation is truly "The Enabling Arm of Rotary,"
