Due to an anonymous $1,000 donation to The Rotary Foundation, the Sunup Club Board was given the opportunity to honor as a Paul Harris Fellow a club member who has provided exemplary service.  Matt Greenlee was the one chosen by the board to receive this special award for the many different ways he has served over the years, and has led the club in serving on numerous projects.

Joining Matt in being honored during the Rotary Foundation Awards segment of at last Wednesday's club meeting were Laura Vanderberg and Dan Beyer, recipients of PHF+1 pins, and John Scholl and Glen Hammond, recipients of PHF=3 pins for their contributions to The Rotary Foundation.  Unable to attend the meeting was A.J. Sheridan, the recipient of a PHF+2 pin.  Our congratulations and appreciation to all of these Rotarians for their continuing support of TRF, "the enabling arm of Rotary."

Special thanks to Sharon Harrington for her work in refurbishing and updating our club's Paul Harris Banner.  We now have a mini-plaque, or badge, on that banner for each of our club members who is a Paul Harris Fellow, with these being grouped in order by the date when each person first became a PHF Rotarian.  It is our goal to become a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club, with the name of every one of our members on that banner. Our club's annual "Let's Make a Deal" fundraiser for the TRF Annual Fund, between Jan. 1 and March 31, enables members to get a club match for their personal donation, in order to reach their first $1,000 Paul Harris Fellow contribution level, or to advance to the next PHF+ level.  All members are encouraged to be regularly giving at least $100 per year in support of our Rotary Foundation.  More next week on how Rotary clubs can access and use those TRF funds, in the form of grants for service projects.

Interactors in Action

Prescott High Interact Club members helped load the truck with their Crutches 4 Africa mobility equipment, which has been stored here in Prescott by Rotarian Ron Williams at his Ponderosa Mini-Storage.  Since the equipment cannot be shipped directly from Prescott, with our being off the main trucking routes, it has to be transferred to the new West Valley Interact C4A Storage Container in Glendale, from which it can be shipped in a 16-ft. pod to the Rotarian C4A base of operations in Denver.  From there it is combined with other donated equipment and shipped in 40-ft containers to our Rotary partners in Kenya and other countries.  Members of the Centennial HS Interact Club in Peoria were on hand to unload the truck when Art and Ron arrived with the truck in Glendale last Saturday morning.

Double Down Casino Night Update

Let's sell tickets and get donations

Jane Anne suggests that when people ask for donations they lead with the amazing scholarships we gave last year- $18,000 worth, and that we want to raise $35,000 this year!

Please have donors fill out the form, and get it back to us.  Also- very important!  Jane Anne reminded everyone that you actually have to collect the donation, in whatever form!

The donation or sponsorship isn't complete without the money or item in hand!  We need 16 blackjack table sponsorships at $250 each, and three crap tables at $450 each.

Club members are being asked to bring to our Rotary meeting a nice bottle of wine, spirits or a 12-pack craft beer.  We also need baskets to use help create gift baskets for the silent auction.

Saturday, June 17th  5p-9p at the Prescott Vibes Event Center.

Located at: 6200 North Rt. 89, Prescott (near the Prescott Airport)

Club members will be going out to the other Prescott Rotary Clubs to share information about DD and sell tickets.

Club members will be selling hard copy tickets, and for the internet/Square- savvy amongst us, you can also buy tickets by going to our website and clicking on the Double Down logo.

OR GO TO: https://sunup-double-down.square.site/

Every club member is expected to sell 10 tickets. Get table sponsors and donations! Go now!

We need dealers for our 21 tables. Celebrity dealers and Prescott Residents encouraged.

Remember, our ability to offer scholarships is directly related to our success with Double Down.  The more donors, the more money raised, the more scholarships we're able to give to deserving graduating seniors- for both college and vocational schools.

Help us support our youth!
