Due, in large part, to the experienced guidance of Emmett and Tiffany Jones, who had successfully engineered pancake breakfasts for their previous Rotary clubs, Sunup Rotary's inaugural Pancakes on the Patio, at Doc's BBQ & Whiskey, across from the Courthouse Square, was a great success. With the Courthouse Square teeming with throngs of people and venders, along with great weather, our club's new fundraiser was perfectly-positioned to take advantage of all of the lively elements on Whiskey Row in downtown Prescott on a Saturday morning.
Key factors in the success of this event were the large percentage of our club members who pitched in to handle the many different tasks, along with the friendly and helpful Doc's BBQ & Whisky staff. Together we made an efficient and effective team. The people and the Courthouse Square venders were happy to see us there, and they enjoyed the convenient breakfast. A number of them commented on how good the food was, and expressed their appreciation for the convenient, relaxed and shaded dining experience we provided. The pancakes and sausage were cooked inside by Doc's staff, and our club's volunteers served the food outside on the patio. It took many hands; and we thank all of our club members, along with some of your family members, who served on Saturday.

Rotary's Mottos
Most of you are very familiar with Rotary's primary motto: "Service Above Self."
However, you may not be as familiar with Rotary's related secondary motto: "He Profits Most Who Serves Best."
These are not just slogans which we casually recite. They are the principles in which we Rotarians firmly believe.
Back in the 1930s Herbert J. Taylor, the owner of the Club Aluminum Products Company, with 250 employees at the time, realized his company was in financial trouble, and it was about to go under. Taylor believed he was the only person in his company who had any hope of saving it. His recovery plan started with changing the ethical climate of his company. He believed if he could get his employees to think right, they would do right. His creation and adoption of this four-way test to serve as a guide for his company’s employees, as they worked with each other, and as they served the company’s customers, did turn his company around and saved it.
Later on, during the time that Rotarian Herbert Taylor was serving as one of the Directors of Rotary International, his Four-Way Test was adopted by Rotary in 1943 to become Rotary’s ethical yardstick “of the things we think, say and do.”
You will find that other businesses and organizations today have also adopted Rotary’s Four-Way Test. For example, if you ever happen to see inside the office of the manager of any Walgreen’s Pharmacy, you will see a plaque on the wall with this same Four-Way Test.
CLUB SERVICE
Sunup Rotary happily celebrated Eric Chester's birthday with him at our club meeting last Wednesday. Happy Birthday, Eric! We appreciate you — in spite of your annoying habit of giving us those white envelopes each quarter.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Our Annual Cleanup of our All-Vets Memorial, on the west side of the Courthouse Square, is happening this Saturday, May 16. and 8:30 a.m.
Past-Pres. John Stewart continues to chair this important community service project. Come and lend a hand!
YOUTH SERVICE
The new community-based Prescott Frontier Interact Club, which meets at BASIS Prescott, recently received their charter from Rotary International. DGE Joe Sweeney and sponsoring Prescott-Frontier Rotary Club President Linda Sweeney, are pictured here presenting the charter document to Advisor Christine Bradford and Interact Club President Elise Boothe.
The new Interact Club has already raised $483 for the Interact Global Schisto Project. Advisor Christine Bradford and Rotarian Advisor Carl Marsh are holding the check. Interact Assistant Governor Carly Duggan, who was instrumental in the formation of the new club, is pictured at the left end of the front row.
