Rather than come with a prepared script, Dallin Kimball, our Prescott City Manager sought to answer our club members' questions on topics which ranged from the placement of several new fire stations to city hiring policies and starting pay for policement being added to the city's police force. He candidly discussed the challenges the city faces in competing with other municipalities in hiring first responders. We appreciated this opportunity to get an inside view of the decison making that is shaping Prescott's future.
Rotary's Worldwide Connections
The sun never sets on the work or the relationships of Rotary. Wherever you wear your Rotary pin, you will be immediately recognized and welcomed as a member of the family of Rotary.
There's a great story behind this recent photo. Harlan and Marsha Teller were returning from a trip to Italy. While traveling through Zürich from Venice, they discovered they were sitting next to Roseangela Merlino. She is the Major Gifts Officer for The Rotary Foundation, who is responsible for serving Rotary clubs and districts in Switzerland and parts of Italy. She was traveling to a meeting at Rotary's worldwide headquarters in Evanston, IL. They made tentative plans to meet again at the 2027 Rotary International Convention in Barcelona, Spain. Participating in a Rotary International Convention, with over 30,000 Rotarians from all over the world, is really the ultimate Rotary Experience.

From Sophia Brown:
Dear Prescott-Sunup Rotary Club,
I would like to start off by thanking you all for incredible support and generosity towards me for the past few years. The connections I have built through this club has helped me make a firm foundation within my Rotary journey. And I am forever thankful for the scholarship I received last year which has helped support me in my first year at Northern Arizona University towards a Secondary Education English degree. A path chosen so that I can give back to the community as a teacher for high school students.
Starting in January, Hugo Garcia Duran and I have been working hard to recreate the Rotaract Club of Northern Arizona University. I am happy to share that we are now an official club at NAU and in the process of being chartered by Rotary. We have made a connection with Flagstaff Rotary and are looking forward to building community with NAU and Flagstaff as a whole.
Despite being in Flagstaff, I will always call the SunUp Rotary Club home, and look forward to visiting and updating you all on our accomplishments. Thank you again for your support, I would not be the person I am today without you all.
With Kindness and Gratitude,
Sophia Brown
Club President

Rotary supports Pakistan in protecting 27 million children against polio
Rotary has granted US $9.9 million to the World Health Organization (WHO) in Pakistan to help vaccinate 27 million children against polio in high-risk districts. This partnership will reinforce the Pakistani government's polio eradication initiative, which each year vaccinates over 45 million children through both nationwide door-to-door campaigns and smaller ones.
My doctor asked if anyone in my family suffered from mental illness.
I said, "No, we all seem to enjoy it."
